John Reitz

John Reitz is a guest instructor at the DSI Comedy Theater

John Reitz has been an improv student since 2003 and a company member with DSI Comedy since 2005. He recently graduated from UNC CHAPEL HILL with a Master's in Education and a B.A. in English and Dramatic Arts. While at UNC, John directed CHiPs, the university's premier improv and sketch comedy troupe, and ran their training program the CHiPs INCUBATOR. John has been on multiple HAROLD teams and previously performed with long time friends in the groups PAPA FIBONACCI and 4DDI as well as being a regular cast member of MISTER DIPLOMAT (2007-2009). In 2009, John co-wrote, and acted in the show WE NEED A HERO: TWENTY PLAYS IN FIFTY MINUTES - A STOCHASTICITY REVUE which was later completely re-written and performed again in 2010. John has also been featured at the NORTH CAROLINA COMEDY ARTS FESTIVAL (2006-2010), the DEL CLOSE MARATHON (2006-2010), and COMEDYSPORTZ NORTH CAROLINA, RICHMOND and BUFFALO.

An advocate for young people interested in performing arts, John has spent time leading improv workshops at Chapel Hill, East Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Jordan High Schools as well as working with Our Time ( an organization that works with young people who stutter.

John has studied under Zach Ward, Corey Brown, Ryan Locante, Betsy Stover, and workshopped with Jason Sudakis, John Lutz, Charna Halpern, Curtis Gwinn, Neil Casey, Asaf Ronen, Joe Bill, Mark Sutton, and TJ Jagodowski.
