Well, if you are considering this class you might have worked with a DSI Instructor before, camps at Carolina Friends School, Voyager Academy, DSI Summer Camps or with our own High School League. You might have heard about DSI before from a High School Drama Teacher or Theater program. However you heard about us, You know that we are serious about comedy and we hope that you're excited about learning new ways to create characters and scenes on stage.

Improv is the art of making it up. Advanced Students will recap the fundamentals of improvisation and comedy scene work and learn a full set of improv games. By learning performance games and taking risks in a safe environment, DSI students develop the ability to tell stories collaboratively and work in the moment.

DSI classes will help students: Improve verbal ability; Enhance active listening skills; Build body awareness; Boost self-confidence. Improvisation can have a positive impact on students both on- and off-stage.

Participants must fit the age range (14 - 17 years old).

Team meets Thursdays from 4:30 PM - 6 PM.
There will be three shows!

We will not meet the week of Thanksgiving.

THIS IS AN INTENSIVE CLASS — Intensive classes are a great way to get through our training program in a shorter period of time without sacrificing any in-class time.

Instructor: Vinny Valdivia

Vinny Valdivia

Vinny has been studying and performing short form and long form improvisation since 2008. He is currently on a million teams and loves playing with everyone. Besides performing, Vinny also coaches and teaches at DSI. Take one of his classes, say Hi! He likes people.

On his days off, Vinny loves to make music by playing drums and pretending he's good at guitar. From 1997 to 2003, Vinny played drums and toured with several bands including Bayside and The Prizefighter. To sum up his feelings on improv comedy: it's all about doing. There is no point in thinking about what you could have done and if you're busy thinking about what you're going to do then you're missing out on now. Instead of worrying about what's going to happen, make something happen.
